Oman Air brings new Service to Manchester

Oman Air’s daily flight from Manchester to Muscat is now in service with prices starting from £350 return. The new route is the latest move in the carrier’s programme of fleet and network expansion. The 7.5 hour service leaves Manchester daily at 20.45 and arrives in Muscat the next day at 07.20. The return service departs Muscat at 14.00 (local time) and arrives in Manchester at 19.05.

Qatar Airways launches Cardiff flights

Qatar Airways will introduce a daily service from Cardiff Airport to its hub in Doha next year, with onward connections to over 150 destinations across the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Australasia. The airline already flies to Doha from London Heathrow, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh, with Dublin joining the network this June. The new service to/from Cardiff was announced at this week’s Arabian Travel Market in Dubai.

Amadeus Tests Virtual Reality as a Travel Booking Option

Navitaire, a reservation system for low-cost carriers that travel technology giant Amadeus acquired in 2015, is debuting a “proof-of-concept” of how travel searching and booking could work using virtual reality headsets. In the simulation trialled exclusively for Skift magazine, customers can use the technology to check out their airplane seat before they buy or step inside a virtual version of their hire car.

Deer Jet Launches Luxurious ‘Dream Jet’ for Charter Market

Deer Jet has revealed it will offer the Dream Jet – a luxurious Boeing Dreamliner outfitted to the highest specifications – to the international charter market. It is thought to be among the largest and most sophisticated aircraft available for private hire worldwide. During a brief stop at London Stansted this month, the plane was showcased to the UK market as it prepares to begin its globe spanning charter services.

SACO plans Locke Aparthotel opening in Manchester

SACO The Serviced Apartment Company is to expand its Locke ‘lifestyle aparthotel’ brand after acquiring a site in Manchester.

Whitworth Locke is the group’s first Locke aparthotel in the city and will offer 150 units alongside amenities including a gym, independent food and beverage offerings, co-working space and meeting rooms. The scheme will be located on the site of the former Atrium Serviced Apartments near Piccadilly Station. The new aparthotel will open by June 2018.

BMO Launches New Cards for SMEs

BMO Financial Group has added two commercial cards to its portfolio and also improved its Air Miles card. BMO's Commercial MasterCard Offerings suite, which also includes two other cards, targets small and midsize Canadian enterprises that have annual revenue between $5 million and $100 million.
